On Thursday, the President announced his gun control Executive Orders. More accurately, Executive Requests because there was nothing that he said that couldn't have been done with an internal memo. However, he wouldn't be able to go out and spew a bunch of lies and misstatements regarding firearms without the orders, so Executive Orders it is. Here are the Orders/Requests. The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.” First, there is no definition of a "ghost gun." In order to ban them, the definition of a firearm will have to be modified. This will have to be done through Congress because the definition of a firearm is federal code. That definition is "Under the US Code of Federal Regulations, a firearm frame or receiver is defined as: “That part of a firearm which provides housing for the hammer, bolt or breechblock, and firing mechanism, and which is usually threaded at its forward portion to receive the barrel.” The current AR-15 receiver does not meet the definition of a receiver so it technically isn't a firearm either. So, in order to capture "ghost guns," they will have to modify this definition to capture current receivers as well as 80% complete receivers. The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act. The ATF has already defined what a stabilizing brace is and approved it. This request is just another attempt to broaden the definition and turn millions of law abiding firearm owners into felons. The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states. "Red Flag" laws are one of the most threatening instruments to our 2A rights. It gives the government a means to confiscate guns without due process. They have also proven to be in effective. The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. David Chipman is a political activist who has worked for gun control groups such as Bloomberg's Everytown and The Giffords. He is on the record saying "“all gun sales should be limited to licensed gun stores where a background check and paperwork is required,” and “I believe we should ban the future production and sale to civilians and afford current owners of these firearms the ability to license these particular guns with ATF under the National Firearms Act.” So, we are giving an avid anti 2nd Amendment zealot an army in the form of ATF agents to be used to kick in doors and confiscate guns. We are under a Tyrannical Regime, and we must unite to protect our Second Amendment rights. |
