All Business Are Essential - Time to Get Back to Normal

Today, my family and I drove over 50 miles to get an unauthorized haircut from a family member.  He owns a barbershop, and he met us behind locked doors to cut our hair.  How insane is that?

What has happened where we have to sneak around to get haircuts?

It is time to open up the economy.  I have been concerned about the lockdown from the moment it was implemented.  I understand limiting large gatherings and even closing the schools.  But why is a liquor store more essential than a barbershop?

We shut the economy down in order to "flatten the curve" and help smooth out the burden on our medical resources.  The curve is flattened.  In fact, there are hospitals laying people off and on the verge of bankruptcy because they are operating at less than 50% capacity.

Now it seems the goalposts have moved, and we want to eliminate the virus before we get back to normal.  That is not how we live our lives.  I believe we are doing more damage now than the virus is doing.

Watch this video.  It is an ER doctor in California and he does an excellent analysis.  It is 50 minutes but worth the watch.

First-Time Buyers Explain Why Coronavirus Drove Them to Gun Stores in Record Numbers

Eaton's pistol was one of 2.3 million firearms to fly off the shelves in March, the single busiest month for gun sales ever. The Washington Free Beacon spoke to half a dozen new gun owners who purchased a total of six handguns and two shotguns. All of the new gun owners provided proof of purchase, though some asked not to have their last names published because of potential career backlash.

Liberals buy guns and drive thru gun stores

Isaiah 43:19: "Behold, I will do a new thing...."  At the beginning of the year, this verse was presented to me from a couple of sources; I seized it for 2020.  In this verse, God is speaking to Isaiah telling him to forget about the past and to look ahead.  I started looking forward and accepting of new challenges, but I had no idea how much things would change this year.

This newsletter is one of the new things.  I created it so I could connect more to my customers.   Another new challenge I took on was to start a podcast.  Recording myself has taken some effort, but I am enjoying it.  I'm not sure how good it is, but I'm surprised by the number of listeners I have had.  They are located all over the United States and even worldwide.

In doing the research for the newsletter and podcast, I fell into the world of online marketing.  Before I knew it, I was learning new terms like funnelstrafficSEOpay per clickauto responders and the like.  So, I decided to create another blog to discuss other topics I'm interested in such as online marketing, side hustles, health and fitness and various other things.

I will do a new thing....

Happy Easter

This is the week of Easter, and I hope everyone is being safe and staying healthy.

This virus has caused a variety of disappointments and sadness for lots of people. There have been many lives lost, and in a lot of cases, an inability to properly mourn the loved one.  I feel for the high school seniors who have missed their prom, the high school and college athletes who lost a season of their careers.  I can’t imagine the disappointment the Olympic athletes are feeling as they have to wait another year for their opportunity.

Personally, my boys high school baseball season was cancelled, and it was going to be an opportunity for them to play together as a freshman and junior.  Also, the team was good and had an opportunity to win a lot.  My oldest son was registered to go to a prestigious journalism conference that has been canceled.

In these difficult times and the disappointments, I am trying to revel in the opportunities to spend more time with my family and a more relaxed environment.  I have heard many say that they can’t keep track of what day of the week it is and how slow time is moving.  I am thankful for this time, and I pray for everyone during this Easter week that you remain safe and healthy and you find an opportunity to worship this weekend.

Ground Hog Day

I hope everyone is safe and healthy.
Not much has changed with us.  In fact, I was telling someone that it feels a lot like "Groundhog Day".  I don't know about you, but there have been times when I don't know what day of the week it is because they are feeling the same.
