Embarrassed to be Texan

I wasn't born in Texas, but as the saying goes, I got here as fast as I could.

In fact, I have been here almost 35 years, and I am proud to say I live
in Texas.  However, this week, I was embarrassed.

Texans are very proud, liberty-loving people.  We are very
independent. But to have someone arrested and put in jail for just
trying to open and run her business . . . that goes contra to the Texas way.

It's not surprising to see public officials in California, New York or
New Jersey infringing on people's Constitutional rights, but it isn't
suppose to happen in Texas.

Thankfully, Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Patrick, Attorney General
Paxton and the Texas Supreme Court all stepped in to correct the
judicial overstepping of Judge Moye'.

If this can happen in Texas, it certainly can happen anywhere.

During this time we have seen our Constitutional rights trampled on.
Our 1st Amendment freedom of religion has been violated as various
churches have been fined for holding worship services.  Our right to
assemble has been violated by the stay-at-home orders and restrictions
being placed on who can gather where.  Finally, the 2nd Amendment has
been violated in many states by forcing gun stores and gun ranges to
close during this time.

This is why the 2nd amendment is so important because it helps
protect all of our other rights.
